Swarm robotics is a field of robotics that deals with the design, construction and operation of robots that can work together as a group, or swarm, to accomplish a common task. The concept is inspired by the way certain animals and insects work together in nature, and the aim is to create robots that can replicate this behaviour. Swarm robotics has a number of advantages over traditional robotics. For one, it is much easier to scale up a swarm than it is to scale up a traditional robot. This is because each individual robot in a swarm is relatively simple, and so can be mass-produced relatively cheaply.
Some of the emerging trends in Swarm Robotics include the use of swarm intelligence for robotic applications, the development of miniature swarm robots, and the use of swarm robotics for search and rescue missions.
