A lithium–sulfur battery is a type of rechargeable battery that uses a lithium metal anode and a sulfur cathode. The lithium–sulfur battery has a high specific energy density and is being investigated as a possible replacement for lithium-ion batteries.
Some of the emerging trends in lithium-sulfur batteries include the use of nanostructured carbon for the cathode, the use of solid electrolytes for improved safety, and the use of novel electrolytes for improved performance.
