Ambient intelligence (AmI) is a term coined by technology companies to describe electronic environments that are sensitive and responsive to the presence of people. Ambient intelligence is often used in reference to the Internet of Things, whereby devices are connected to the internet and can communicate with each other and with people. In an ambient intelligence environment, devices are aware of their surroundings and can act accordingly. For example, a smart thermostat may adjust the temperature based on the time of day or the presence of people in the room.
Some of the emerging trends in Ambient Intelligence include the use of sensors and actuators to create smart environments, the use of artificial intelligence to create more natural user interfaces, and the use of data mining and machine learning to create more personalized services.
